Med / Surg RN Job Details

Location : Spooner, Wisconsin 54801

Healthcare Setting : Acute Care – Medical Surgical Unit (18 beds)

Assignment Length : 13-week travel nursing contract (Start : 11 / 3 / 2025 – End : 2 / 2 / 2026)

Shift : 12-hour night shifts, rotating every 3rd weekend (may cover additional weekends as needed)

Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1880–$2020

Charting System : EPIC electronic health record

Scrub Color : Any professional color

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Wisconsin or compact state

Current BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association preferred)

Minimum 1 year of recent Medical Surgical nursing experience preferred

Strong teamwork and communication skills

Ability to interpret telemetry / monitor strips

Willingness to float to Emergency Department (support role only)

Must reside at least 50 miles from Spooner, WI facility (per travel nurse radius rule)

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality patient care to adults with diverse diagnoses (pneumonia, CHF, COPD, cellulitis, post-surgical cases)

Manage nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 4 (occasionally 1 : 5 or 1 : 6)

Titrate IV drips (Heparin, Cardizem) and initiate vasopressors prior to transfer

Collaborate with nurse aides and interdisciplinary healthcare team members

Utilize respiratory therapy equipment (CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen)

Complete a 12-hour orientation and participate in ongoing nursing education

Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC EHR

Follow block scheduling (no self-scheduling)
