We’re seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who brings strategic leadership, financial expertise, and a deep belief in our mission. The CFO will play a pivotal role in ensuring our mission-driven programs are sustainable, accountable, and positioned for long-term success.
As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team , the CFO oversees all financial functions—including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and strategic planning—while partnering closely with the CEO and Board of Directors. This role formulates and administers sound administrative, budgetary, purchasing, and accounting standards along with policies, programs, and plans to support agency success and attainment of organizational goals. The CFO also supervises the entire finance department in accordance with YSS policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the organization’s financial strategy, planning, and analysis to ensure sustainability and mission alignment.
- Oversee accounting, payroll, audit, tax filings, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Develop and monitor annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts.
- Provide clear, actionable financial reporting to the CEO, Board, and leadership teams.
- Collaborate with program and development teams to align funding streams, grants, and expenditures.
- Supervise and mentor finance and payroll staff to promote excellence, integrity, and innovation.
- Partner with external auditors, financial institutions, and key stakeholders to maintain fiscal transparency and accountability.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.Minimum 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience.Knowledge of finance within the non-profit or human services sector.Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.CPA, MBA, or related credentials.Deep understanding of fund accounting, grant management, and compliance requirements.Proven success managing complex budgets and multiple funding streams in the nonprofit or human services sector.Soft Skills & Leadership Attributes
