JOB SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse provides nursing care to patients in compliance with, but not limited to, Standards of Practice as defined by
ANA, AORN, ASPAN and State Practice Act Standards, and organization protocols, policies, procedures, and guidelines. Develops
implements, evaluates, and revises plan of care based on physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and educational needs of the
patient / caregiver. Maintains clinical knowledge and skills competencies to facilitate patient care in accordance with current
standards of practice and monitors the environment to provide safe patient care.
EDUCATION, LICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE
BLS, ACLS within 90 days of hire, if not currently certified.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Good visual acuity, accurate color vision. Ability to lift / transfer patients in excess of 100 pounds, which may require pushing,
pulling and essentially utilizing a full range of body movement. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and / or crawl. Ability to
reach, grasp, use fine finger movement and feel fine sensation to discern temperature, texture, size and shape. Ability to speak
and hear.
MENTAL DEMANDS
Requires frequent and constant judgment, leadership, and the ability to make decisions and solve problems immediately;
occasionally in response to disasters or emergencies, actual events or drills. Requires English language skills for constant high-
level written and interpersonal communications. Ability to work well with physicians, employees, patients, and others.
ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURE
Exposure to blood borne pathogens. Exposure to chemical and electrical hazards.

a. Positioning patient safely, padding bony prominences and ensuring respiratory and circulatory protection
b. Ensuring correct prepping and draping procedures
c. Conducting “time-out” process prior to incision to ensure correct patient, correct, procedures, and correct surgical
site.
d. Ensuring asepsis during all procedures. Opens and presents sterile items to sterile field aseptically; ensures supplies are not expired. e. Accounting for all sponges, needles, sharps, during and after the procedures and documenting appropriately.
