Utility Worker II

GENERAL DESCRIPTION :

• A Utility Worker II works under general direction within a framework of established procedures and expected to perform a wide variety of skilled, semi-skilled maintenance, repair, installation and alteration tasks.  Judgment and initiative are required in making decisions in accordance with established guidelines .
• Examples of Duties Conducts construction, repair , and maintenance of water and wastewater lines and equipment including valves, fittings and taps.
• Conducts new construction and installation of water and wastewater lines and equipment.
• Conducts basic maintenance, lubrication and repair of equipment and facilities; responsible for operating various vehicles and equipment including backhoes , dump trucks, and frontend loaders.
• Conducts the maintenance, repair and construction of plant and facilities; operates various hand and power tools and equipment to service or maintain city facilities or grounds .

Must be able to follow oral and written instructions in performing tasks in a variety of construction and maintenance activities; perform heavy physical labor; establish and mainta i n cooperative relat i onship with those contacted in the course of assigned duties :
