Job Description
The Tax Manager will oversee complex tax engagements, manage client relationships, lead a team of tax professionals, and ensure the highest quality of service delivery. This individual should be a strong leader, technically proficient, and committed to delivering exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and review complex individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on tax planning and compliance matters
- Research and consult on various tax issues (e.g., R&D credits, multi-state tax, etc.)
- Provide proactive tax planning strategies to clients to minimize liabilities and increase compliance
- Supervise, train, and mentor staff and senior accountants; participate in performance evaluations
- Monitor and manage tax engagement budgets and deadlines
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and regulations
- Participate in the firm’s business development initiatives
Qualifications:
- CPA license required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 6+ years of recent experience in public accounting with a focus on taxation
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax codes and regulations
- Experience with tax software such as ProSystem fx, CCH Axcess, or similar
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Proficiency in English is essential to communicate clearly and effectively with clients and team members
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
