Job description

American Traveler is seeking a Scrub Tech First Assistant with CSFA certification and at least 3 years of experience for a day shift assignment.

Job Details

  • Day shift position in a hospital surgical setting,
  • Role focuses on first assisting the surgeon and performing advanced surgical tech duties,
  • Surgical technologist / first assistant is present in the OR, ASU, or PACU footprint while assisting,
  • 13-week contract assignment,
  • Fifty mile radius rule applies for eligibility,
  • Possible call hours after 40 hours per week,
  • Availability to work every other weekend may be required,

Job Requirements

  • Completion of a trade or technical school program (certificate or diploma required),
  • CSFA certification required,
  • BLS required within three months of start date,
  • NBSTSA certification required,
  • Minimum of 3 years of surgical technologist or first assistant experience,

    • Additional Information

  • Assist surgeons by anticipating needs, patient positioning, providing operative site visualization, and assisting with closure and hemostasis,
  • Must not function as a circulating nurse and cannot direct hospital personnel independently,
  • Surgeon must be physically present in the OR suite footprint during procedures,
  • Adherence to holiday coverage for recognized holidays including Christmas, New Year's Day, Thanksgiving, Labor Day, Memorial Day, and Fourth of July,
  • Travelers may work only two consecutive 13-week assignments per year at the same facility before a mandatory 26-week break,
  • Facility reserves the right to cancel up to three shifts per 13-week contract,
