Registered Nurse Job Details

Location : Ithaca, NY 14850 (New York healthcare jobs)

Assignment Length : 13 weeks (September 30, 2024 – December 30, 2024)

Healthcare Setting : Prep & Recovery Unit (PACU nursing jobs)

Schedule : Day shifts; preferred 3x12-hour or 4x10-hour shifts per week

Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week

Estimated Weekly Pay : $1930 - $2070

On-Call : 1 weekend day (24-hour call) in a 6-week rotation, plus weekday call

RN Qualifications & Requirements

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State or compact state

Minimum 1 year of recent experience in PACU, Prep & Recovery, or critical care nursing

BLS certification required (American Heart Association preferred)

Experience with peripheral nerve blocks preferred

Pediatric nursing experience (age 6 months and older) preferred

Familiarity with Meditech EMR preferred, but not required

PACU RN Responsibilities

Deliver Phase I and Phase II post-anesthesia recovery care and discharge in a single PACU unit

Manage a 1 : 2 nurse-to-patient ratio, including care for two Phase I patients as needed

Provide care for inpatient and outpatient surgical patients, including elective, urgent, and emergent cases

Assist with local procedures (thoracentesis, paracentesis, minor orthopedic procedures)

Recover patients from multiple specialties : orthopedic, general surgery, ENT, neurology, plastics, urology, and gynecology

Care for pediatric patients during high-volume ENT days and other pediatric surgeries

Recover ICU and endoscopy (MAC) patients as needed

Participate in on-call rotation and support flexible scheduling for optimal patient care

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe, high-quality clinical support
