Medical Director - Psychiatrist
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with on-call responsibilities

The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board (H-NNCSB) invites qualified psychiatrists to apply for the Medical Director position at the BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center, a 16-bed adult in-patient crisis unit. As Medical Director, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric care. Key responsibilities include conducting psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing mental health conditions, and developing individualized treatment recommendations. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on hospital admissions and discharge planning, and participate in case consultations.
Successful candidates will demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of psychiatric and medical management principles, particularly in the treatment of individuals with serious mental illness, along with a strong understanding of psychotropic medications and their therapeutic applications. They will possess working knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and legal procedures governing mental health treatment and exhibit proficiency in crisis intervention, assessment, and the treatment of mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders. Additionally, candidates must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and complex clinical documentation while maintaining accurate and confidential records.
