Performs thorough, systematic, comprehensive, and accurate patient assessments. Consistently demonstrates competent clinical skills and provides appropriate nursing care to the unit's patient population. Knowledge and skill in emergency equipment and procedures. Maintains complete and accurate documentation including nursing process and patient progress. Demonstrates professional practice responsibility and knowledge of policies and procedures. Responds professionally and courteously to patients, families, and co-workers promoting a cooperative care environment. Follows National Patient Safety Goals including Universal Protocol and patient identification. Demonstrates knowledge of surgical patient conditions, procedures, and equipment; individualizes care according to procedure and anesthesia. Contributes to perioperative team by prioritizing patient care and changes in condition. Assesses patient understanding of surgical procedures and provides pre- and postoperative education. Supports timely completion of patient testing and evaluates Pre Admission Testing orders for appropriateness. Job Requirements 1 year hospital acute care experience required.
