Job description

We are looking for a Board-Certified General Surgeon for an exciting locum tenens opportunity in southern California, near Santa Monica . This position offers a mix of inpatient and outpatient surgical care, with a focus on providing high-quality services to patients in a scenic coastal area.

Position Details :

  • Location : Near Santa Monica, California
  • Start Date : January 1, 2025
  • End Date : Ongoing
  • Coverage Type : Scheduled clinical hours with call coverage
  • Shift Details : Monday through Friday (8 AM to 5 PM), with night and weekend beeper call
  • On-Call Requirements : Beeper call, usually one call per day; rarely requires a physical visit to the facility

Specialty Focus :

  • General Surgery with a focus on Oncology Breast Surgery
  • Surgeries required : Lumpectomy, mastectomies (including nipple-sparing mastectomy), sentinel node biopsy, and axillary dissection
  • Experience : Providers must have extensive experience in breast surgery and be comfortable handling both high-risk and benign breast disease

    • Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide inpatient and outpatient surgical care
  • Perform a variety of general surgery procedures, with a strong focus on breast oncology
  • Collaborate in joint oncoplastic surgeries as needed
  • Handle both scheduled and emergency surgical cases

    • Required Certifications :

  • Board Certification in General Surgery
  • BLS certification
  • California State Medical License (or eligibility)

    • Additional Information :

  • EMR System : Epic
  • Estimated Credentialing Timeframe : 60-90 days
  • No travel reimbursement for licensing or credentialing
  • Fellowship in breast surgery preferred, but general surgeons with extensive breast surgery experience will also be considered
