2026 U.S Summer Internship Program : Global Oncology Early Patient Access Manager Intern

Graduate-Level Intern Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated graduate-level intern to join our Global Access team to lead a focused research project on the costs, timelines, and legal pathways for registering medicines in diverse countries. This work will directly inform global access planning, enabling our organization to supply medicines even when not commercially launched through compliant non-commercial mechanisms such as early access, compassionate use, and donation programs. Over 12 weeks, the intern will design, populate, and validate a registration cost and pathway database for priority countries, and develop concise country one-pagers for rapid internal decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Structure the Database
• Develop a clear schema to capture : registration fees, GMP / site inspection costs, dossier requirements, timelines, reliance / harmonization opportunities, and maintenance / renewal fees.
• Include legal pathways for non-commercial supply (named-patient, import waivers, donation frameworks, early access mechanisms).
• Research & Data Collection
• Compile data from national regulatory authorities, WHO, regional harmonization bodies, and NGO procurement sources.
• Engage internal Regulatory, Legal, and Access colleagues to validate findings.
• Identify humanitarian or public health fee waivers and expedited pathways where available.
• Country Profiles & Pathway Summaries
• Produce 12 page briefs per country summarizing cost structure, timelines, and legal supply options.
• Flag opportunities and barriers to registering or supplying medicines outside of commercial launch.
• Cross-Link with Access Strategies (Light-Touch)
• Summarize how tiered pricing, donations, or means-testing could align with identified legal pathways in LMIC settings.
• Provide at least one case study where registration without commercialization has enabled long-term supply.
• Final Deliverables
• Searchable, queryable registration cost & pathway database for 1520 priority countries.
• Set of country one-pagers.
• Executive summary presentation with recommendations for next steps.

Internship Development Opportunities

Hands-on experience in regulatory research and access pathway design. Deep understanding of how non-commercial supply routes can expand patient access. Exposure to cross-functional collaboration with Regulatory, Legal, Medical, and Access teams. A portfolio-ready tool that directly supports strategic decision-making for global patient access.

Job Requirements

Graduate student in public health, pharmacy, regulatory affairs, health policy, global health, or a related discipline. Strong analytical and data management skills; proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets (experience with databases a plus). Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to distill complex regulatory information into clear, concise formats. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams. Interest in equitable access to medicines, regulatory science, and global health policy.

Internship Eligibility

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship. Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2026 or later. The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (May 26th-August 14th or June 15th-August 21st). The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames. Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates. Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program.

For Location : Boston, MA U.S. Hourly Wage Range : $21.00 - $46.00 The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidates school year / level to be entered following completion of internship. The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
