About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Hours per Shift : 12 hours (7a-7p)

Experience : Minimum of 2 years

License : Active Illinois license or confirmation of application process initiated

Certifications : BLS, ACLS, ENPC or PALS, TNCC or TNS

Must-Have : General nursing skills, proficiency in titration of drips, and at least 1 prior travel assignment preferred. Experience in a teaching hospital and SANE RN experience is also preferred.

Description :

The role includes working in a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Room with a capacity of 65 beds, all private.

Patient ratios can vary from 1 : 3 to 1 : 5 based on acuity and department needs.

The facility sees a wide variety of patients, from newborns to the elderly, with complaints ranging from minor to critically ill conditions.

Common diagnoses include strokes, heart attacks, and trauma cases.

Nurses will take care of critically ill patients following stabilization in trauma bays.

Proficiency in managing and titrating a variety of critical drips, including vasopressor and cardiac drips, is required.

During shifts, a minimum of 3 attending physicians is present, along with charge nurses and a house supervisor.

Nurses are expected to interpret cardiac rhythms and take appropriate actions when necessary.

Lab draws may be performed by nurses and techs, although phlebotomy will be used for some cases.

Travelers are typically scheduled by the manager and may request time off, which will be reviewed based on availability.

Every other weekend and holiday shifts are required.

Floating to assist in other units may occur, but is generally infrequent.

Preferred scrub colors should be tasteful and limited to solid colors underneath.
