Company DescriptionPhysical Culture Brooklyn (est. 2019, formerly OPEX Brooklyn) is a hybrid personal training gym in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Our team specializes in injury rehab, sports performance, women’s health, body composition, and functional training, serving professionals, parents, and high performers who see training as the engine for a better life.
Role Overview
Start as a part-time coach and ramp up to full-time as your roster and responsibilities grow. You’ll learn our business, coach on the floor, and carve out a niche under an established business that offers mentorship, continuing education, and a client-acquisition pipeline. With a larger flagship location on the horizon, we’re looking for someone who wants to grow alongside the business for years, not seasons.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Flex Coaching clients during Open Gym sessions (minimum 15 hours per week across ~3 shifts) and take on private Focus Coaching clients as needed.
- Assist in day-to-day gym operations. Help with cleaning, inventory, and general business processes.
- Commit to continuing education and work toward external certifications.
- Design individualized training, nutrition, and lifestyle programs.
- Build and manage your own roster of clients with full marketing and sales support.
Who You Are
- Training is non-negotiable. You live what you coach and inspire others around you.
- You have an athletic background. You know what purposeful training feels like.
- You're a people-person. You communicate clearly and connect easily with others.
- You're open to coaching as a career. You want your work to be meaningful.
- You have natural curiosity and want to work with great people.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s (or final-year student) in Exercise Science, Nutrition, or related field.
- 0–2 years of coaching experience or demonstrable program-design skills.
- Evidence of continuing education (courses, workshops, certifications).
- CPR/AED certified (or willing to obtain within 30 days).
