Who you are

You are a skilled Lead Software Developer with extensive software design and implementation experience. You are proficient in current programming languages and tools and can act as a team resource on custom development initiatives. You enjoy building robust 24 / 7 software, and you are passionate about scalable software, SDKs, and APIs.

What you'll do

The Lead Software Developer will play a major technical leadership role in creating and maintaining Geotab's Optimization product vertical. You will guide your team in building scalable solutions that process large amounts of telematics data, delivering high-quality software from platform to user interface to help customers gain actionable insights into fleet performance, route planning, fuel efficiency, and driver safety.

How you'll make an impact

• Identify key areas for architecture improvement and prepare proposals for improvements.
• Lead, oversee, and plan the development of scalable code, prototypes, MVPs, and PoCs.
• Own complex / long-term projects, defining scope, requirements, progress, challenges, and solutions to ensure timely delivery.
• Collaborate with other development teams on cross-product features.
• Conduct comprehensive testing and code reviews to maximize quality and enforce best practices.
• Provide expert project leadership as a Subject Matter Expert within the department and organization.
• Contribute to strategic direction, roadmap planning, and feedback synthesis for team success.
• Serve as a cross-functional resource across teams and products to help solve technical issues.
• Build relationships as a technical point of contact with stakeholders including customers, product managers, and partners.
• Mentor other developers and guide team direction and stakeholder decisions; advise management with insights to improve the team.
• Document system design and architecture to facilitate understanding, maintenance, and extension.
• Support Geotab's global strategic initiatives and participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
• Evaluate technical solutions independently and contribute to the team roadmap.
• Present and lead technical discussions and training at the department level.
• Stay up to date on emerging technologies and best practices and present them to senior leadership for consideration.
• Serve as a domain expert (e.g., GBQ) and consult on area of expertise for the department and organization.
