About the Department

The Database Platform Team, within Cloudflare's Infrastructure Engineering, builds and operates databases at scale. The team’s mission is to empower internal engineering teams, delivering products quickly and reliably through automated, scalable data infrastructure. We automate database infrastructure, strengthen resiliency, and enable applications to scale, reducing operational complexities for database management.

This role offers the opportunity to develop new features, integrate with database tooling, and advance automation across our platform.

What You’ll Do

You will work with database engineers, software developers, and Infrastructure teams to evolve database platform architecture, access control, and automation strategies. You will help enhance PostgreSQL infrastructure, improve database reliability, automation, and tooling. If you are passionate about PostgreSQL, automation, and database tooling, we’d love to hear from you.

• Build, deploy, and manage PostgreSQL databases in production environments.
• Develop and optimize database schemas, queries, and procedures for performance and scalability.
• Develop and maintain database tooling for automation, monitoring, and performance tuning.
• Optimize database performance, indexing strategies, and query tuning.
• Implement high availability, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Work closely with Infrastructure and Applications teams to integrate database tools.
• Implement proactive solutions using observability tools to monitor database health.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation may be adjusted based on work location. Example ranges : Washington, D.C. based hires : $154,000–$188,000 per year.

This role is eligible to participate in Cloudflare’s equity plan. Cloudflare offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, FSA, commuter benefits, fertility and family-forming benefits, mental health support, and more. Details vary by location.
