We are working with a leading commercial specialty contractor specializing in drywall, acoustical ceilings, and interior systems across high-rise residential, healthcare, and institutional projects. They are seeking a skilled Drywall Estimator to play a key role in the preconstruction process, providing accurate cost estimates and strategic insight to support project success and company growth.
Key Responsibilities :
- Review architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and contract documents to define full scope of drywall, metal stud framing, acoustical ceilings, and related interior systems.
- Perform precise take-offs for materials (gypsum board, metal studs, channels, finishing compounds, acoustic panels), labor, equipment, and subcontractor contributions.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates including material pricing, labor rates, equipment costs, overhead, markups, and contingencies.
- Develop professional bid proposals with clear assumptions, exclusions, and value-engineering alternatives.
- Collaborate with operations, procurement, and field teams to ensure estimates reflect realistic productivity, logistics, and site conditions.
- Maintain and update internal estimating databases with labor rates, material costs, vendor quotes, and historical performance data.
- Present estimates during bid review meetings, clarifying assumptions and identifying risks or opportunities.
- Recommend value-engineering solutions to optimize cost or schedule while maintaining compliance and performance standards.
- Ensure estimates comply with all codes, safety regulations, fire ratings, acoustical performance standards, and contract requirements.
- Support post-bid efforts by helping project teams track performance against original estimates.
Qualifications & Skills :
Minimum 3 years of experience estimating drywall, interior wall systems, acoustical ceilings, or related trades in commercial construction.Strong technical knowledge of drywall systems, metal stud framing, finishing levels, fire-rated assemblies, and acoustical ceiling components.Proficient with digital take-off and estimating software, plus strong Excel and data analysis skills.Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and schedules.Strong communication and presentation skills for effectively explaining assumptions and methods to team members and leadership.Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Knowledge of labor productivity standards, subcontractor market trends, and material cost fluctuations.Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred but not required.Motivated, dependable, and eager to contribute to a collaborative, high-performing estimating team.What We Offer :
