Director Nebraska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission
The Nebraska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (NOGCC) is seeking a qualified and experienced Director to serve as the agency's chief administrator. This leadership role is responsible for the enforcement of Nebraska's Oil and Gas Conservation Law and the effective administration of related rules, regulations and operations.
The Director serves at the pleasure of the Commission. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
Key Responsibilities
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications : Qualified petroleum engineer or geologist with three years field experience in the drilling and operation of oil and gas wells. Demonstrated leadership experience in regulatory compliance, operational oversight or technical evaluation within the oil and gas industry.
Preferred Qualifications : Familiarity with Nebraska's Oil and Gas Conservation Law or similar regulatory frameworks in other states. Leadership experience in supervising staff, managing multi-disciplinary teams, or overseeing contractors. Experience in budgeting, financial oversight or managing public funds.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities : Strong understanding of oil, gas and injection well permitting, drilling, production and abandonment processes. Knowledge of oil and gas case law. Ability to interpret, apply and enforce state and federal regulations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective engagement with industry, government and community stakeholders. Strong public speaking skills.
