About The Position
Summary\nUnder supervision, assists in operations. May help set up operating room, prepare and transport patients for surgery, adjust lights and equipment, pass instruments and other supplies to surgeons and surgeon's assistants, hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments. May provide day to day guidance / direction to more junior staff.\n\n\nEssential Functions\nParticipates in time out procedures\n\nAttainment of extra supplies and equipment as needed.\n\nSets up equipment independently\n\nParticipates as an active member of the Patient Care Team.\n\nMonitor and continually assess operating room conditions, including patient and surgical team needs.\n\nPrepare patients for surgery, including positioning patients on the operating table and covering them with sterile surgical drapes to prevent exposure.\n\nKnowledge of SPD Sterile Room.\n\n\nRequired for All Jobs\nPerforms other duties as assigned\n\nComplies with all policies and standards\n\nDoes this position require Patient Care (indirect / direct)? Yes\nJob Description\nJob Description\nEducation\n\nHigh School Diploma or Equivalent required \n\nCan this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No\n\nLicenses and Credentials\n\nBasic Life Support [BLS] Certificate preferred \n\nCertified Surgical Technologist [CST] preferred \n\nMedical Technician [New Hampshire] preferred \n\nExperience\n\nsurgical tech experience 3-5 years required \n\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities\n\nKnowledge of SPD Sterile Room.\n\nAbility to multitask, can work in a fast paced clinical environment.\n\nAdvanced knowledge of sterile processing procedures and policies.\n\nFamiliarity with medical terminology and departmental supply items is required.
