Job description

Performs mental health services for severe adult mentally ill clients. Work involves conducting interviews and clinical assessments; site-crisis coverage for referrals and, provision of continuity of care to referred mental health individuals in crisis. Also, provides community outreach work as needed. Works under moderate supervision of Supervisor of Triage with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment in carrying out details of the work.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED :

  • Provides crisis coverage during scheduled hours for referrals to Crisis Care
  • Provides on-site crisis assessments and develops intervention plans
  • Provides crisis counseling and supports as deemed necessary
  • Coordinates referrals to community-based providers
  • Provides continuity of care services with all area providers
  • Prepares progress notes and other required documentation.

Experience and Training

  • Requires successful experience in providing mental health services for persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses, a working knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis, psychosocial assessments and crisis intervention.
  • One year case management preferred.
  • Education

    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's or master's Degree with a major in behavioral, social sciences, humanities, or education.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

  • Knowledge of mental illness and emotional components of physical illness; psychiatric diagnosis, psychosocial assessments and crisis intervention.
  • Demonstrated skill in interviewing and reporting results of interviews.
  • Considerable ability to work cooperatively and effectively with professional personnel (i.e. jail staff, etc).
  • Must exercise tact, initiate, and good judgment in dealing with clients and relatives.
  • Must be able to prepare reports and make recommendations for administrative use.
  • Must have ability to speak and write effectively.
  • Ability to relate to people and to interact with consumers.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Must have excellent time management and organizational / filing skills.
  • Must have knowledge and ability to do clinical documentation.
  • Must have and maintain a level of general health that permits the performance of job duties.

    Hours : Thursday-Saturday 7p-7a and alternating Wed

    Salary : $49,128 to $57,822 DOE and Education
