Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Tax Reviewer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of tax returns prepared by junior staff. This role requires a strong technical tax background, a commitment to mentoring junior team members, and the ability to manage deadlines in a dynamic public accounting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Identify discrepancies or areas of concern in tax filings and recommend necessary corrections.
- Provide technical guidance and support on complex tax issues , including conducting in-depth tax research.
- Ensure all reviewed returns are completed in a timely manner and meet the firm's quality standards.
- Collaborate with partners and senior leadership on high-level client engagements and tax strategies.
- Mentor and train junior tax staff, providing constructive feedback and helping to develop their technical skills.
- Communicate directly with clients to clarify documentation, resolve issues, and provide tax-related advice.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and ensure compliance with updated laws and best practices.
Qualifications & Requirements
CPA or EA designation required (or actively pursuing, with expected completion within 12 months).Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of experience in public accounting , with demonstrated experience reviewing individual and business tax returns.Prior experience supervising or mentoring tax preparers or junior accountants.Proficiency with UltraTax (required); experience with QuickBooks or CCH is a plus.Strong understanding of U.S. federal and state tax codes, forms, and compliance procedures.Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines, especially during tax season.Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
