Overview

Sony Pictures Television Studios (SPTS) is one of the industry’s leading content providers, producing programming worldwide across genres and platforms. As the largest independent TV studio in the industry, SPTS produces 50+ shows each year, including THE BOYS, COBRA KAI, THE GOOD DOCTOR, OUTLANDER, and MESSI AND THE GIANTS. We are looking for a Director to report to the new VP of Franchise Management. The role focuses on creating and implementing strategies that grow brand value for key IP in the Sony Television library for classic and new content across live action, animation and kids. The candidate should have recent experience developing television entertainment brands with an understanding of social, fandom, and driving engagement through brand extensions. Extensive experience in licensing across genres and categories including toys, apparel, publishing, gaming, pop-up location-based entertainment, and music is required. Core Responsibilities

  • Expert on all SPTV content identifying franchise potential, in-show product opportunities and aligning internal stakeholders on priorities.
  • Develop strong relationships with show producers to seek input and approvals.
  • Assist VP in creating and executing 3–5-year franchise plans focused on the launch, build and sustain of IP across adult, kid and animated content.
  • Act as key liaison with Sony Consumer Products on all aspects of consumer products including asset procurement, creative strategy, product approvals and retail marketing.
  • Oversee IP strategy and marketing for the studio store, working with production to secure early assets.
  • Lead product development for content-driven categories such as publishing and gaming.
  • Collaborate with production and producers to integrate and enhance franchise elements in series and gather early assets for product development.
  • Guide and approve all SCP style guides and product development, working closely with producers and creators to garner input and approvals.
  • Work with Sony Music teams to maximize music strategies and project manage all concerts and other music events.
  • Partner with streamers to maximize support for series through ancillary brand extensions.
  • Create and influence compelling presentations, sizzles and other sales materials.
  • Set up an efficient share site to house all franchise assets from decks to art to video.
  • Seek out, negotiate and implement promotional partnerships to elevate brands.
  • Identify ticketed events and new opportunities working with Location Based Entertainment teams and implement strong project management systems for execution.
  • Work closely with marketing to create long-term franchise marketing plans identifying new content and social strategies.
  • Proven track record building strong relationships internal and external and excels in a team environment.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree, MBA a plus.
  • 5-10+ years’ work experience in entertainment franchise development, licensing and retail marketing across kids and adults.
  • Understanding of streaming metrics, franchise IQ and other entertainment franchise research.
  • Strong retail and brand marketing experience.
  • Proven expertise in using multimedia strategies to create and sustain a successful brand.
  • Deep understanding of social and YouTube analytics and a track record of creating successful brand campaigns.
  • Expert presenter capable of putting together compelling sales presentations.
  • Direct experience negotiating licensing and other deals.
  • Strong problem solver with the ability to overcome obstacles to achieve results.
  • Skills : Keynote and PowerPoint required.
  • The anticipated base salary for this position is $130K to $170K. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and / or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including qualifications of the individual applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and location of the position.
