Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Med-Surg Acute position in Illinois requiring neuro unit and trauma experience.

Responsibilities Position is in the Neuro Med-Surg Acute unit within an acute care setting

Unit has 54 beds, including 2 semi-private rooms

Patient population includes stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, neuroscience, and some medical overflow

Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 4-5 days and 1 : 5-6 nights

Required to titrate drips including heparin gtt based on PTT

RN shifts are 12 hours, 0700-1900, with every other weekend and holiday rotation

RNs float in rotation with staff and may take full assignments within general units; limited assignments outside of general units based on competency

Epic is used for charting; prior experience is recommended

Charge nurse and house supervisor are present 24 / 7

House wide telemetry with Phillips monitors

No required call or standby

2-day orientation provided with unit educator and preceptorship

Must cover tattoos and limit piercings to ears only while on duty

No specific scrub color requirement

COVID vaccination is not required for this position

Local rates apply for candidates living within 50 miles of the facility

Holiday coverage is every other holiday as scheduled

Negative drug screen required for all panels as part of the onboarding process

Requirements Active IL RN license required at time of consideration

Minimum of 1 year of RN experience

Must have previous travel experience; first time travelers not accepted

Prior experience on a dedicated neuro unit required

Level 1 trauma experience required

Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required

Experience titrating heparin drips is required
