The Patient Care Coordination Associate is essential in delivering patient-centric services within a clinical or front office setting. You will perform various clerical and administrative duties related to patient care, including greeting and checking in patients, answering phones, processing co-pays and insurance payments, handling paperwork, and executing other front office responsibilities in a dynamic and customer-focused clinical environment.

This is a full-time position requiring flexibility in scheduling for our 8-hour shifts during regular business hours at Frick Hospital, with additional variable shifts in the ED, which operates 24 / 7. Occasional overtime may be required based on business needs. Our office is located at 508 South Church St Mount Pleasant, PA 15666.

We provide 3-4 weeks of comprehensive training, including 20 buddy shifts and a structured training program lasting about a week, with hours based on your shadowing schedule.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Engage with patients and / or their families, either in person or on the phone, to facilitate the registration process, including collecting demographics, health information, and verifying insurance eligibility / benefits.
  • Utilize computer systems to accurately enter and verify patient data in real-time.
  • Gather necessary clinical information to process referrals, pre-certifications, pre-determinations, and pre-authorizations as per insurance requirements.
  • Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and generate price estimates or reverifications when needed.
  • Collect patient co-pays and discuss financial obligations with patients as appropriate.
  • Identify and attempt to collect outstanding balances from previous visits.
  • Coordinate with patients and referring providers to confirm and schedule appointments for services prior to hospital discharge.
  • Respond empathetically to patient and caregiver inquiries regarding routine and sensitive topics.
  • Generate and review patient data reports, addressing any discrepancies as necessary.
  • Maintain a current understanding of specific registration requirements across various departments including Main Admitting, OP Registration, ED Registration, Maternity, and Rehabilitation units.

    Required Qualifications :

  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher).
  • 1+ years of customer service experience in a hospital, office, customer service, or phone support role.
  • Willingness to work full-time, with flexibility for occasional overtime based on business needs.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products.
  • Previous roles in a Hospital Patient Registration Department, Physician office, or similar medical settings.
  • Experience with insurance reimbursement and financial verification.
  • Experience handling financial payments and transactions.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with insurance policies and procedures.
  • Ability to perform basic financial mathematics.
  • Soft Skills :

  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Physical and Work Environment :

  • Standing for long periods (10 to 12 hours) while using a workstation on wheels and a phone / headset.

  • Compensation for this role ranges from $16.00 to $27.69 per hour, based on factors such as local labor markets, education, and work experience.
