Geotechnical Engineer, Scientist, or Geologist
Geosyntec Consultants is hiring for a Geotechnical Engineer, Scientist, or Geologist on site near Nashville, TN, supporting Acton, MA operations. The position provides opportunities to apply academic knowledge to real-world projects, including construction quality assurance (CQA) for earthwork, water treatment, instrumentation, and civil / geotechnical construction projects. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Monitor activities on job sites to ensure compliance with contract documents (e.g., technical specifications, construction drawings, sampling plans, CQA plans).
- Prepare daily and weekly field reports and progress reports.
- Ensure project documentation is correct and consistent with company policy and procedures.
- Conduct geotechnical field investigations.
- Monitor heavy civil construction projects.
- Perform and review engineering calculations.
- Perform dam, levee, and CCR facility inspections and assist with evaluations.
- Develop construction documents; write and review engineering reports.
- Fieldwork : Up to 90% of time. Overnight travel may be required; project site is local to Nashville with additional opportunities.
Education and Licensure
Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering, or geology (required).Advanced degree in the same (preferred).Professional registration (e.g., P.E., P.G.) (preferred).Skills, Experience And Qualifications
At least 5 years (7+ years preferred) of work experience in engineering consulting or equivalent.Experience with geotechnical and engineering software such as AutoCAD, Slope / W, and PLAXIS (preferred).Regular field work and overnight travel (required).Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing (required).Valid U.S. driver's license and satisfactory driving record for business travel (required).Seniority level
