American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a current CA RN license, ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NIHSS certification.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care Emergency Room setting with 22 beds and additional hallway beds as neededPatient population includes psych, stroke, sepsis, STEMI, and high-acuity cases with 170-210 patients dailyPatient ratios are typically 1 : 4, depending on acuityTravelers may not triage but will work in both main ED and fast-track areasUses Cerner FirstNet EMR; experience with Cerner or FirstNet is preferred12-hour night shifts, most often 7p-7a, every other weekend required, variable shift times occasionally assignedFloating required to affiliated ER as neededCharge nurse and clinical tech support available 24 / 7Ventilator management required; phlebotomy and point-of-care testing may be needed when tech support is limitedPrimary responsibilities include direct ER patient care, medication management, pain assessment, and close follow-up for pain protocolsTraining provided on I-stat, glucometer, and POC urine pregnancy testing during orientationWeekly schedules may include some variable shift rotation and first to float on weekendsDress code requires navy scrubsMust follow strict protocols for stroke and sepsis patients, including timely swallow screens and fluid bolusesHoliday coverage assigned according to permanent staff rotationClinical techs assist with EKGs, labs, vitals, and patient care, especially on weekendsMonitor techs use Phillips monitors and require RNs to review and sign off on stripsFirst time travelers not specified; prior travel experience preferred\n \n Requirements\n
Active CA RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum 2 years recent ER experience required (2-3 years preferred)Current certifications required : ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSSCOVID-19 vaccination requiredExperience with Cerner EMR preferredAbility to pass competency for conscious sedation if requiredCopy of driver’s license required for considerationTwo professional references required : one from a supervisor within 12 months, and one from a peer or supervisor within 3 years including dates of employmentNo prior full-time, part-time, or PRN employment with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year\n Benefits\n
