Day Hab Assistant Manager Position
The Day Hab Assistant Manager will assist the Manager with oversight of day-to-day operations of their assigned locations. This includes programming for persons served, assisting with staff scheduling and trainings. The Day Hab Assistant Manager will report directly to the Day Hab Manager.
Essential Job Duties

- Assist in the hiring, orientation, training, of Day Habilitation employees as assigned by the Day Habilitation Manager and / or Community Services Coordinator.
- Assists Day Hab Manager with supervision, scheduling and evaluation of assigned Day Habilitation employees. Meet with them on a regular basis to empower them to produce positive outcomes and high-quality services.
- Provide direction to staff as appropriate for programming purposes.
- Primary responsible for ensuring that necessary records and documentation are maintained in accordance with policy and regulations. This includes review of service logs, GER s, PS attendance / billing and CQI corrective actions.
- Assists DH Manager with coordinating programming between residential and day program components. Maintains close communication with Managers to coordinate programming. Communicate any potential community employment opportunities to the Community Services Coordinator.
- Assists DH Manager with routine visits of all community – based service locations on a regular basis to ensure that they are safe, sanitary and quality programs are being conducted.
- Assists with managing the Day Habilitation program to ensure positive behavior supports for person served and quality service delivery.
- Assist in the enrollment and / or exit of persons served with final approval of Community Services Coordinator and as specified by state / federal regulations.
- Assists DH Manager in attending Individual Support Plan (ISP) meetings for persons enrolled in the Day Habilitation Program.
- Primary responsible in managing Day Habilitation persons served activity money in accordance to PI policy and procedure.
- Assists Manager with activity planning, scheduling and supply needs and arrangements.
- Assists Manager with oversight and completion of Day Habilitation weekly supply shopping.
- Assist Day Hab Manager in Day Habilitation person served community transportation scheduling and arrangements.
- Assist Day Hab Manager and Community Services Coordinator in completing Day Habilitation department operating budget.
- Assist Day Habilitation Manager and Community Services Coordinator in pursuing community-based opportunities for the Day Habilitation program. Promote PI mission / vision and program purpose to potential community partners.
- Perform various administrative / operational duties as assigned by Day Habilitation Manager.
- Present a professional, business-like image to customers, prospects and the public.
- Participate in the on-call rotation for Polk and Jasper HCBS.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS of the HCBS Assistant Day Habilitation Manager
1. Be at least 21 years of age.
2. One of the following qualifications must be met : a) A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the social or behavioral sciences and one-year post-degree experience in the delivery, planning, coordination or administration of human services, b) A high school degree (or its equivalent) and five years post-degree experience in the areas outlines in item a.
3. Within six months of employment complete at least 9.5 hours of training in supporting members in Day Habilitation activities, offered through DirectCourse.
4. Attend all mandatory training required of this position, including 4 hours of annual continuing education in Day Habilitation services
5. Ability to exercise sound judgment and quick decision-making when the situation requires.
6. Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with others both orally and in writing. Strong skills in leading and conducting trainings
7 Possess "leadership ability" as it relates to supervision and training of staff.
8. Maintain a valid Iowa Driver's License with a good driving record, and a private
automobile used to carry out job duties. Hold adequate liability insurance (required : $100,000 / $300,000 / $50,000).
9. Be available for on-call assistance when emergencies arise in assigned program areas. . Participate in on-call rotation in Polk and Jasper Counties.
10. Have proficient computer skills to complete job duties as assigned.
