Staff Structural Water Engineer

Overview

This position is focused on the design of structures which support water purification and treatment facilities, making water supplies more resilient and sustainable. This engineer will design a variety of structural systems, broaden their design experience, and collaborate with other disciplines, while delivering critical water infrastructure projects to the community. The opportunity also includes potential work across markets such as power generation, industrial, and data centers.

As part of BV Operations, your skills will be aligned to projects that support our three market sectors : Governments & Environment, Energy & Process Industries, and Connectivity & Commercial. Key Responsibilities

• Execute complex structural analysis, perform calculations, and prepare sketches and drawings for the design of water and wastewater treatment plants, industrial facilities, and other complex structural facilities
• Supervise Structural Engineers (US and overseas) and work with Structural Technicians in the preparation of structural drawings and specifications; lead larger production teams and serve as the responsible charge for projects
• Perform construction phase engineering duties such as site visits, responding to RFIs, and review of contractor submittals
• Perform project administrative tasks, including design fee estimates, monitoring progress against budget and schedule, management of project changes, and implementation of Black & Veatch Quality Control requirements
• Coordinate work with architects and other discipline engineers
• Lead a team to execute complex projects with construction values up to $100M
• Provide guidance on department design guides, standards, systems, engineering codes and BV policies; assist in developing, maintaining, and updating engineering standards; provide technical guidance and support continuous improvement
• Implement resource management strategy including managing resources for a small group

Certifications

Holds an active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries, and supports where necessary.
