About The Position

Job Title : Oncology Infusion RN

Profession : Nursing

Hours per Shift : 10-hour shifts, Monday - Thursday and one Friday per month

Experience : Minimum 2 years in Medical / Surgical nursing with an emphasis on IV insertions and phlebotomy skills. Previous Infusion and Oncology Infusion experience required.

License : Registered Nurse

Certifications : ONS Chemo / Bio Certification required. ONS / ONCC Chemotherapy certification preferred. BLS required, ACLS preferred, PALS preferred.

Must-Have : Proficient in IV insertion, PICC line and Port-A-Cath management, and administration of chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, antibiotics, phlebotomy, and blood products. Strong customer service skills required. Basic computer knowledge required. Experience with Cerner EHR preferred.

Description :

Works under the supervision of the Infusion Nurse Manager.

Ten-hour shifts (Monday - Thursday) and one Friday per month.

The RN must be proficient in IV insertion and PICC line / Port-A-Cath management for adults, including end-of-life patients.

The nurse should have proficiency in the administration of chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, antibiotics, phlebotomy, and blood products.

Management of treatment-related side effects is essential in an interdisciplinary approach.

The nurse should be comfortable performing assessments specific to patient disease, treatments administered, and related side effects.

Ability to multi-task and proficiency in interdisciplinary communication are essential to the role.

The Oncology Infusion RN is responsible for outpatient infusion services including chemotherapy.

Must be proficient in IV insertions for adults, PICC line and Port-A-Cath management, phlebotomy, and blood transfusions.

Responsibilities include performing nursing history and physical assessments, communication with ordering physicians and staff, etc.

Responsible for patient education regarding injections and all aspects of IV infusion therapy for all adult disease processes.
