Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Project Engineer, located in Hackensack, NJ. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our construction team. This role is essential in supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of projects from start to finish. The Project Engineer will assist in managing schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and documentation while ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced Project Managers and Superintendents, gain hands-on experience in the field, and contribute to the successful delivery of complex construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development of project execution plans by contributing to planning, scheduling and logistics discussions
- Collaborate with Project Managers on purchasing activities, including scope definition, quantity take-offs, and procurement coordination.
- Prepare, track, and submit project submittals to ensure full compliance with contract documents and specifications.
- Assist in creating and maintaining project schedules, including detailed tracking of subcontractor activities and milestones.
- Monitor material deliveries to ensure they align with the project schedule and proactively resolve any delays.
- Manage assigned subcontracts, ensuring all deliverables, timelines, and quality standards are met.
- Coordinate construction drawings and specifications in partnership with the Project Manager and Superintendent to ensure field accuracy.
- Draft and track change orders, obtain pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, and perform related cost estimates and quantity take-offs.
- Support project closeout activities, including compiling operation and maintenance manuals, warranties, and subcontractor final payment documentation.
- Act as the primary point of contact for project document control systems, ensuring accurate records and efficient communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred.Solid understanding of scheduling, cost engineering, subcontractor coordination, and overall project administration.Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.Strong computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across teams.Dependable team player with a strong work ethic and commitment to project success.Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
