About the position :
Develop, maintain, and lead all aspects of quality Management / Control within our facility to ensure fabricated products are compliant with Certification(s), Customer Standards and Contract Requirements.
Immediate Supervisor : General Manager
Qualification and Requirements :
1) Certifications / Licenses (Required) :
a) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
b) Certified Welding Educator (CWE)
c) ASNTC-1A Level Two Non-Destructive Testing Certification
i) Penetrant Testing (PT)
ii) Ultrasonic Weld Testing (UT)
iii) Radiographic Interpretation (RT)
d) National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) level 1
2) Education / Experience :
a) Bachelor’s degree in related discipline with five (5) years hands on experience in a quality control / management role.
b) Other candidates will be considered based on overall experience.
3) Other Skills :
a) Ability to communicate professionally in verbal and written form.
b) Proficient in MS Office Software.
c) Familiarity with Tekla MRP
d) Proficient math skills in support of Quality duties
4) Responsibilities :
a) Welding : develop, review, test, teach, train, and certify trade staff and program requirements for :
i) Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
ii) Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)
iii) Welder and Qualification Test Records (WQTR)
iv) Maintain welder continuity logs
v) Ensure welding machine calibration
b) Certifications : manage and maintain current and future certifications and audit compliance to their standards including but not limited to :
i) American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) Fabrication (future erection).
ii) American Welding Society (AWS D1.1, D1.5).
iii) Internal Quality Documents.
iv) Customer supplied quality requirements.
v) Others as applicable.
c) Non-Conformance : Maintain system that identifies and tracks :
i) Cost of quality non-compliance, rework or poor quality as related to the below :
(1) Engineering / Drawings
(2) Labor
(3) Material
(4) Coating
(5) Subcontractors
(6) Equipment
(7) Transportation
(8) Delays
(9) Policy issue
(10) Other
d) Reinforce a positive supporting quality culture with emphasis on shared knowledge.
e) Work with and effectively communicate with all stake holders, vendors, customers, and subcontractors.
f) Work with integrity and consistently exhibit the highest level of professionalism.
g) Provide timely and accurate communication regarding Quality Policy Updates, Audits and Audit Findings, Quality Plans, Individual Test Plans, Opportunities for improvement, and identified compliance issues to the senior management team and any necessary stake holders.
h) Establish and champion the Quality Policy and Quality Steering Team while leading quality through the organization.
i) Create, implement, and review a Quality Improvement Plan that addresses specific functional areas / departments, company systems, products / services, including “people” development with regards to quality performance capabilities. Review to be performed annually or as agreed / required.
j) Educate stakeholders (internal and external) in quality awareness, quality improvement, and foster a team approach to problem solving, training, supplier qualification, and employee certification.
k) Recommend annual Quality budget and manage approved allocation.
l) Identify, qualify, and negotiate preferred third-party inspection rates to support project needs.
m) Develop and maintain a third-party master list of qualified third-party inspection services with their qualifications.
n) Propose recommendations regarding quality head count, contract employees, and supporting staff.
o) Audit annually vendor scoring matrix for quality compliance and opportunity for supplier development.
p) Maintain calibration system for measuring tools requiring calibration.
q) Review backlog report for new project quality requirements and communicate with project management for actionable items.
r) Attend regularly scheduled business unit meetings.
s) Work Environment :
i) On premise in manufacturing plant / office environment
ii) Site visits for active projects approximately 10% travel
