Sylvan is currently hiring Teacher Assistants, with hours ranging from 5 to 20 hours per week, at our Lake Zurich / Barrington, IL and Schaumburg locations!  Work may also include Summer Camp at Harper College.

Role is perfect for high school students, especially those at schools near our centers.  Interest in a STEM related degree and career path is our focus.  Tutoring experience, or other leadership roles with students (camp counselor, coach, lifeguard) also a plus.

Teacher Assistant Requirements :

  • STEM related courses in high school
  • STEM related degree interest in college / career
  • Experience tutoring or working with students preferred
  • Great opportunity for local high school students to explore STEM as an area of study / career

    • Teacher Assistant Skills and Qualifications :

  • Greet and direct students at drop-off and pick-up, establishing a fun, welcoming learning environment
  • Teach STEM courses in Robotics, Coding and Math
  • Support teachers with curriculum / teaching needs
  • Support our Administrative team with office / project tasks
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Answer parent questions in-person, phone and email
  • Provide summary for our Educational Team
  • Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching, learning, and Sylvan
  • Utilize computer systems to support teachers and communicate internally and externally
