Schedule :               5 days per week

Monday – Friday, with occasional weekend day coverage (as needed / infrequent)

Salary :                    $120,000-$140,000 annually

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screening.

Job Description : The Shelter Veterinarian is responsible for overseeing the veterinary care, evaluation and treatment of all shelter animals, ensuring the highest quality of care is provided. The Shelter Veterinarian is expected to perform routine and specialty surgeries, abide by all Florida State laws and regulations, complete continuing education courses, and maintain best practices. In partnership with the Chief Executive Officer and Director of Veterinary Services, the Shelter Veterinarian will strive to continuously seek methods for improvement of both medical quality and performance of the shelter veterinary team.

Qualifications :

• Must have a graduate degree from an accredited school of veterinary medicine.
• Must maintain a current Florida State Veterinary license and continue CE credits annually.
• Must maintain a Federal Drug Enforcement Administration license in accordance with Florida State law.
• Comfort handling all companion animals, including but not limited to dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, and rodents.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers and HSP clients.
• Ability to stand and / or walk for long periods of time and lift 40 pounds or more.
