International Transportation Manager
Responsible for managing all aspects of international transportation and Customs Compliance. Managing the Transportation team to ensure service level goals are met, freight costs remain optimal, tariff exposure is minimized, and regulatory compliance is maintained. Establishing relationships with key providers and developing logistics solutions within the supply chain. Strategic oversight of the direction of the department to adapt to address the changing needs of the business and import market. Expertise of the overall international transportation market conditions. Accountable for effective collaboration initiatives across all internal stakeholders. Development of Team Members to ensure continuous improvement of the department and to provide a career path for the team members to pursue and grow professionally.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
- Direct a team of transportation professionals to ensure service level goals and costs structures are maintained across all aspects of international transportation. Ensure a high level of customer service is maintained for external stakeholders including DC's, Merchandising, Finance, Planning and Allocations and other departments.
- Develop relationships with strategic logistics service providers to ensure continuous improvements in service and costs remains the priority. Establish and monitor KPI's to ensure any deficiencies are addressed and improved. Recommend changes in providers to increase service levels and / or reduce transportation expenses.
- Enhance the effectiveness of individual transportation team members by setting clear objectives, monitoring performance, empowering and providing guidance for improvements. Expose the team to different aspects of transportation to expand knowledge of the industry. Continue to organizationally build a strong, professional and capable transportation operations team that can operate highly effectively.
- Maintain market expertise across all shipping modes to ensure that the goals, priorities and changing needs of the company are being solved for with the best logistics providers. Partner internally with key stakeholders to understand company needs and to fully support strategic direction.
- Ensure that the department stays current on all Customs and Tariff regulations, advising internal stakeholders on all impacts to BJ's supply chain and cost structure.
- Sustain and enhance trade and security compliance programs to ensure we maintain top-tier importer status with US Customs.
- Lead requests for pricing events annually and as needed to evaluate alternative provider options that can improve service and / or reduce costs. Provide direction on the goals of the event and the analysis needed to find the optimal solution. Present recommendations for awards of business as a result of the event.
- High level of interaction with both internal and external stakeholders. Requires effective oral and written skills. Needs to be a strong negotiator with the ability to work towards creative solutions. Needs to be able to articulate transportation and compliance needs as it relates to company objectives to external service providers.

Bachelor's Degree RequiredMaster's Degree PreferredMinimum Experience - 5 years in logistics industryPreferred Experience - 10 years in the logistics industryPresentation skills required for internal and external discussions.This is a hybrid role. Tuesday through Thursday are in-office days at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA and Monday and Friday are remote days.
In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ's Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $145,500.00.
