Position Summary / Department Summary :

Nurse Practitioner, General Surgery

Key Responsibilities :

• Working with the 24 / 7 inpatient NP covered general surgery service including : solid organ transplant, general surgery, CAIR, colorectal, EAT, bariatric and trauma as well as consults on the Main campus.
• Clinical leadership, assessment and collaborative management of inpatient surgical patients aged newborn to young adult. Includes : interpretation of diagnostic tests, performance of therapeutic procedures, quality improvement initiatives and clinical research activities.
• Coordinating direct admission, timely discharge planning, consultations and participating in patient / family education in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Working 36 hours per week : 12-hour shifts, split evenly between day / night shifts, every 4th night weekend with the opportunity to advance weekend requirements over time.
• This position is eligible to participate in the hospital new graduate 1 year APP fellowship.
