Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of the Applicant and Record Quality Services Branch, Record Quality Services Program Staff Services Manager I, the Crime Analyst (CA) II works independently, or with other staff, to handle claims of inaccurate and / or incomplete criminal histories pursuant to California Penal Code § 11120-11127. Consult individuals seeking information pertaining to their own criminal history records, the CA II performs highly specialized research to ensure that legal requirements are met, identifies obtain, and analyze relevant criminal records and source documentation to determine whether a challenge is to be substantiated or denied based upon any findings of material inaccuracy or incompleteness. The incumbent must possess a general knowledge of the criminal justice system, its complexities, and its processes. The incumbent must also possess a general knowledge of the statutory code sections relevant to criminal history record reviews, automated criminal history records, and related programs within Department of Justice (DOJ). The CA II makes presentations to law enforcement and prepares reports and publications for managerial review. The CA II may represent DOJ in court and at administrative hearings. Incumbents act as lead to assist program management with departmental-wide projects and provides specialized training regarding departmental services and their work processes.

Working Conditions
This position is designated for telework under Government Code section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California and may require reporting to headquarters or field offices and facilities to fulfill operational needs. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Justice policies.
This position is eligible for telework, and will be required to report to the office as needed / required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
