Overview

Job Title : Research Associate

Location : Kennesaw, Georgia (Primary location for job responsibilities) with possible assignments at Kennesaw and Marietta campuses. Regular, Full-Time position. Job ID : 283525

Performs activities leading to the establishment of an externally funded research program, including experimental design and implementation, data collection, reduction and interpretation, manuscript and grant development, and related administrative tasks. Serves as Principal Investigator (PI) / Co-PI for projects and grants, as well as other interdepartmental projects.

This position is grant funded. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of grant funding.

Responsibilities

• Performs research activities leading to externally funded research program
• Mentors undergraduate students performing research and supervises research lab
• Leads and conducts research initiatives
• Conducts experimental design and implementation, data collection, reduction, interpretation, manuscript and grant development
• Uses standard evaluation tools and methods and assists in creation of new data collection instruments when necessary
• Responsible for grant writing, proposal development
• Manages research space, including equipment if needed
• Performs all duties described in grants and external projects, including but not limited to preparing progress and final reports, conducting literature reviews, collecting and analyzing data, attending grant related meetings, and preparing publications
• Supervises and mentors other members of grant team when required by grant
• Disseminates knowledge through reports, articles, white papers, other publications and presentations at local, state and national level
• Prepares lectures and presentations

Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field

ABILITIES

Able to lead and conduct research

Able to supervise others\' work by virtue of being a program manager, project director / principal investigator, co-project director / principal investigator, or task leader on sponsored research

Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines

KNOWLEDGE

Publication of research results is highly desirable

SKILLS

Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills

Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite, statistical analysis software (SPSS))

Strong attention to detail and follow up skills

Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette

Other Information

This is a supervisory position. This position does not have any financial responsibilities. This position will not be required to drive. This role is not considered a position of trust. This position does not require a purchasing card (P-Card). This position may travel 1% - 24% of the time.

Background Check

Per the University System of Georgia background check policy, all final candidates will be required to consent to a criminal background investigation.
