The selected candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following activities : applying their professional knowledge and experience to global and national security missions executed within four departments with more than 65 employees. Establishing and maintaining trust-based relationships with current and future sponsors and partners from DOE / NNSA, other laboratories, international organizations such as the International Atomic Energy Agency and other Sandia organizations. Actively managing and developing managers and staff who often travel internationally, including travel to undeveloped and high-risk countries. You will be expected to demonstrate and promote Center for Global Security and Cooperations and Sandias mission space by leading the GNSN group and engaging with peers in the center, division, and across Sandia to support and advocate for collaborative work with domestic and foreign partners. On any given day, the selected Senior Manager may be called upon to : represent GNSN programs and mission space to internal and external partners; oversee management of program resources, SNL capabilities, and personnel to effectively and efficiently meet customer needs with integrity, quality, and expertise; ensure a safe and healthy workplace and the safety and security of employees traveling domestically and internationally; provide expert opinion, evaluation, and advice to other SNL mission and program areas; provide cost, schedule, scope, and performance data and metrics for projects; partner with your colleagues to initiate, develop and execute group, center, division, and lab-wide plans and strategies; ability to travel both domestically and internationally. Due to the nature of work, successful candidate must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range : $184,400 - $313,700

• Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require :

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and ten (10) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development. Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q and SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test.

Qualifications We Desire :

The ideal Senior Manager candidate for Sandia National Laboratories will in addition possess the following : five or more years of demonstrated leadership experience. A graduate degree in science or engineering (MS or Ph.D.). Demonstrated positive impact of leadership ability, including direct and influence management skills. Experience in establishing and carrying out program and organizational strategy including experience in technical business development. Also, for this posting we are seeking individuals with the following experience : experience working with foreign governments, businesses, and other institutions; experience leading programs for NNSA / DoD and other government agencies; outstanding communication (written, verbal, public speaking) and interpersonal skills; proven ability to develop and mentor others and to establish and maintain strong and effective relations; basic understanding of nuclear weapons or weapons of mass destruction.

About Our Team : Sandia's Center for Global Security and Cooperation leads and implements Sandia's cooperative programs for arms control, nonproliferation, nuclear security and threat reduction in support of a variety of customers including the Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation, the Department of Defense (DoD) Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and Department of State, to name a few. These programs focus on reducing global nuclear, chemical, biological and radiological dangers by preventing the misuse of nuclear, chemical, biological and radiological materials, preventing the diversion of weapons-usable materials from civilian nuclear energy programs through safeguards, and reducing the threat posed by nuclear weapons themselves through arms control treaties and agreements, and cooperative threat reduction programs. These objectives are achieved through international cooperative partnerships, engagement with the policy community, and engineered solutions. The technical expertise used in the Centers work arises from fundamental research and development, systems research and analysis, and a variety of competencies, skills and knowledge required to engineer solutions. The technology developed is wide ranging and includes : physical protection and security systems for protecting materials, transportation systems and facilities; International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards for nuclear material in other countries; systems for detecting, deterring and interdicting materials at border crossings and seaports; developing and implementing exportable monitoring technologies for transparency and verification of agreements; biosafety and security systems to build capacity in other countries; and technical cooperation to promote regional stability in regions critical to U.S. national security, through the Cooperative Monitoring Center (CMC).
