Job Title : Engineering Technician / Test Technician
Job Description
Prepare both informal and formal test reports for internal and external customers. Conduct testing on prototypes, existing, and competitor products by following written test procedures and instructions. Typically, manage 6-8 tests simultaneously on 3-4 machines. Perform tests involving mechanical, electrical, and environmental functions, while documenting data and capturing photographs of products. Ensure proper maintenance of laboratory test equipment and tools, and assist in the assembly and operation of laboratory test equipment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive test reports to customers.
- Conduct detailed testing on various products as per established procedures.
- Simultaneously manage multiple tests on several machines.
- Execute tests based on mechanical, electrical, and environmental criteria.
- Perform measurements and visual inspections to ensure product quality.
- Document and record data accurately, including photos of products.
- Maintain and perform routine checks on laboratory equipment.
- Assist in the assembly and maintenance of laboratory test equipment.
- Purchase necessary laboratory supplies and test fixtures.
- Set up and work with transducers for pressure, load, torque, strain gauge measurements, and thermocouples.
- Nurture a culture of continuous improvement and efficiency in laboratory activities.
- Develop and maintain operational procedures for laboratory equipment to ensure reliability and accuracy.
Essential Skills
3+ years of experience working in an engineering test lab.Ability to analyze and interpret data effectively.Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints.Ability to document test results using Excel or similar software.Strong mechanical aptitude.Experience with calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.Additional Skills & Qualifications
2 or 4-year college degree in a technical field such as mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or automotive industry highly preferred.Experience with PLC and CAD is a plus.Knowledge of ISO 9001, TS, and other quality systems is beneficial.Work Environment
The position operates between a state-of-the-art clean testing lab and the manufacturing floor. The environment requires knowledge of technologies such as micrometers, calipers, and blueprints, and involves adhering to principles of continuous improvement, including familiarity with Maintenance Excellence programs, 5S, and VSM.

This is a Contract position based out of Elgin, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00 / hr.
