Chief Operating Officer – Miami, FL
Macdonald & Company has engaged a privately held residential real estate investment and advisory platform to identify a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join the executive leadership team in Miami, FL.
This individual will play a pivotal role in overseeing day-to-day operations while driving the firm's long-term strategic initiatives. The COO will guide and coordinate activities across Finance, Marketing, Operations, and Investor Relations, ensuring the organization maintains institutional-quality processes, reporting standards, and internal controls.
The role requires a highly organized, execution-focused leader capable of supporting a growing multi-department platform.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Provide oversight across Finance, Marketing, Operations, and related business functions
Build and refine firmwide data, reporting, and information systems
Establish organized cloud-based file structures and documentation protocols across departments
Partner with IT to enhance and maintain cybersecurity standards
Collaborate with the CFO on annual budgeting processes and quarterly budget updates
Support all departments through improved technology, compliance, marketing, and operational infrastructure
Oversee current office operations and support planning for future office locations
Operations, Service & Administration
Manage relationships with third-party service providers and outsourced partners
Ensure excellence in investor reporting standards and support Investor Relations to deliver an institutional-grade client experience
Partner with Investor Relations and Marketing teams to strengthen investor communications and outreach initiatives
Drive operational consistency, workflow optimization, and administrative efficiency across the organization
Compliance
Oversee corporate insurance requirements and ensure appropriate coverage is maintained
Implement policies and processes in coordination with external securities counsel and compliance advisors
Human Resources
Provide leadership and oversight across all employees and departmental structures
Maintain and update employee handbooks, confidentiality agreements, and internal policies
Support recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and organizational development efforts
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in a COO or senior operations leadership role
Background in financial services, advisory, investment management, or related fields preferred
Experience with data management systems, CRMs, accounting platforms, and communication technologies
Strong people-management capabilities with demonstrated experience leading multi-department teams
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, including thorough documentation and consistent follow-through
Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment where individuals wear multiple hats
High degree of professionalism and executive presence, with the ability to represent the firm across internal and external stakeholders
