Buyer Direct Materials (BDMWEB)

Responsible for the sourcing of materials, equipment, supplies and services of a specialized or complex nature for commodities that are not managed centrally (typically outsourced manufacturing / subcontracting) and require knowledge and coordination with the plant manufacturing variable manufacturing capacity and outsourcing strategy. Review and analyze engineering purchase requisitions, investigate and develop sources of supplies, prepare bid specifications, issue bid requests and review quotations in accordance with prescribed purchasing regulations and procedures in order to ensure that all projects achieve all production, target cost / target profit objectives by the start of the project. Achieve specific procurement goals or provide support to others while following established procurement systems and protocols. Identify contract requirements and write technical specifications for a small portfolio or area of the business for existing contracts and / or new contracts. Produce accurate reports by collecting technical purchasing data from a variety of standard sources and inputting it into standard formats. Deliver required outcomes by coordinating activities of subcontractors and suppliers and act as a primary point of contact for them while working within an established contract management plan. Drive cost savings and efficiency targets through material / service acquisitions. Support the purchasing team with vendor negotiations. Manage buying for an assigned group of products or services. Prepare complex documents gathering and summarizing data for reports. Collect and collate information on the key cost drivers, market dynamics and issues, areas of innovation, and alternative suppliers to provide solid market information for decision making. Evaluate costs and identify variances or opportunities to improve profitability for more senior colleagues. Run Strategic Sourcing Review in conjunction with the commodity team to define potential supplier selection panel required to support the program, taking into account supplier technology, geographical location, target costs. Act as a team member supporting a change initiative by providing basic analysis, project plan updates, and other support to deliver prescribed outcomes. Resolve queries from internal or external customers or suppliers by providing information on policies and / or procedures, referring complex issues to others. Support stakeholder engagement by arranging actions, meetings, and events.

• Master Degree in Industrial Engineering, Quality and Productivity Engineering or foreign educational equivalent. Two years of experience in the position offered, or in a similar position, such as Program Procurement Buyer. Experience must include selecting and managing suppliers to ensure strict adherence to program targets (Quality, Cost, Delivery) and negotiating the best possible commercial terms to meet specified quantities, quality and deadlines for assigned programs.
