Position Overview
This role involves performing MRI examinations to assist in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Responsibilities include patient registration, maintaining safety protocols, and supporting marketing efforts for the MRI department.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment adhering to safety and infection control standards.
- Manage requisitions and physician orders using Cerner EMR software.
- Initiate and complete MRI exams using RadNet within the Cerner system.
- Engage patients in a courteous and professional manner.
- Perform diagnostic MRI exams following all magnetic safety precautions.
- Complete MRI safety and contrast screening documentation accurately.
- Maintain thorough record-keeping and documentation as required.
- Follow American College of Radiology guidelines for MRI safety practices.
- Manage inventory of supplies including IV contrast and related materials.
- Ensure MRI room cleanliness and equipment disinfection between patients.
- Report equipment issues promptly after contacting technical support.
- Respect patient dignity during exam preparation.
- Maintain quality control procedures daily.
- Handle phone inquiries when not engaged in exams.
- Explain procedures related to MRI CD copies and HIPAA regulations to patients.
- Comply fully with ICAMRL and / or ACR accreditation policies.
- Adhere to punctuality and professional dress standards.
Qualifications
6 to 12 months of healthcare experience preferred.Strong customer service skills with leadership and teamwork abilities.High ethical standards and professional integrity.Familiarity with medical and surgical terminology.HIPAA compliance and confidentiality awareness.Proficiency with computer data entry and office equipment.Experience operating GE 1.5 T Excite 8 channel MRI or similar equipment.Competence in using MRI coils, shields, and administering IV contrast.Knowledge of film viewing systems such as MYSIS, CENTRICITY, ECHOES, or McKesson PACS.Ability to burn and import CDs into PACS systems.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.Education
High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Health Care Administration, Business, Medical Assisting, or equivalent experience preferred.Certifications
Certified MRI Technologist through ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT.Venipuncture certification within six months of hire.Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.This position is based in a regional healthcare setting within the Pacific Northwest. Candidates must successfully pass a physical evaluation, drug screening, and background checks prior to employment. Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies is required as per regional health mandates.
