Compliance Manager

Location : Chicago, IL

Schedule : 1st Shift

Salary : Up to $160,000 annually

Employment Type : Full-time

Overview :

A growing organization in the aerospace and defense sector is seeking a skilled Compliance Manager to lead data governance and regulatory compliance initiatives. This role requires hands-on execution and the ability to navigate complex compliance frameworks including ITAR, EAR, FAR / DFARS, and CUI. The successful candidate will ensure company-wide data practices align with internal policies and external regulations.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop and implement data governance policies and frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with ITAR, EAR, FAR / DFARS, and related regulatory standards.
  • Classify and manage data according to sensitivity and regulatory mandates.
  • Conduct regular internal audits and prepare documentation for external audits.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and mitigate data-related risks.
  • Monitor access controls and support enforcement of data usage standards.
  • Provide training and support to internal teams on compliance requirements.
  • Maintain and manage compliance status on platforms such as SAM.gov.
  • Lead investigations into potential data incidents and develop remediation plans.
  • Track and report data usage, accuracy, and compliance metrics.
  • Partner with IT and business units to address data quality or control issues.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 35 years of experience in a compliance, data governance, or regulatory role.
  • Proficiency with compliance standards including HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2, or similar.
  • Familiarity with GRC software and data management tools (e.g., Excel, ERP platforms).
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Prior experience in regulated industries such as healthcare, life sciences, or finance is preferred.
  • Certifications such as CIPP, CDMP, or CISSP are a plus.
