Reporting to the Director of Operations and Quality
Position Overview :
The Quality Engineer is responsible for assisting in establishing, implementing and maintaining systems and / or services to measure and improve product quality, cost, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities :
- Designs, installs and evaluates quality assurance process sampling systems, procedures and statistical techniques; designs or specifies inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment; analyzes production and service limitations and standards; recommends revision of procedures, work instructions and specifications.
- Develop and provide training on key quality processes, tools, and techniques.
- Identifies and implements effective process control systems to support the development, qualification, and on-going manufacturing of products to meet or exceed internal and external requirements.
- Leads in the implementation of systems, controls, and corrective and preventive actions designed to meet or exceed internal and external requirements.
- Participates as leader or resource in validations applicable to processes, software and products. Represents the Quality department during the New Product Development process.
- Participates as facilitator of Kaizen and other cross-functional quality improvement team events. Also participates in, supports and helps implement Lean manufacturing initiatives
- Identifies non-conformance trends and develops and administers technical investigation and corrective & preventative action programs to resolve recurring quality problems.
- Supports the development and maintenance of quality at manufacturing locations and directs and conducts assessments of the status of these systems.
- Improves procedures, instructions, test methods, and conducts measurement system analysis
- Performs technical analysis, evaluation, and testing focused on resolving quality related product issues
- Identifies and implements effective corrective actions to prevent recurrence of quality related issues
- Leads cross-functional teams in quality plan development using tools such as APQP, FMEA, PPAP, and process capability studies
- Develops and initiates standard methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation throughout the organization
- Devises sampling procedures; designs and develops processes and systems for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
- Develops process improvement plans using a variety of Quality and Continuous Process Improvement tools, including but not limited to Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, SPC, DOE, and Gauge R&R.
Position Requirements :
BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred) with 5-7 years of Quality Engineering or Process Improvement experience in a Manufacturing environmentStrong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with strong interpersonal skillsExceptional analytical, problem solving, and root-cause analysis skillsExcellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, Visio, and MinitabProject Management Skills and familiarity with MS ProjectChange agent with energy, passion, and enthusiasm to drive improvement.Ability to multi-task and handle tasks with competing priorities effectively.Demonstrated success in implementation of process control in a LEAN Six Sigma environment is highly desirableExperience with managing both capital and expense budgetsExperience in a packaging and plastics / foil conversion manufacturing environment preferredASQ Certifications (CSSBB, CQE, or CQA) preferredPrimary shift is 1st with support as needed on other shifts.
