Role Summary
Colorado Springs Cardiology is seeking a person to manage patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs). The Cardiac Device Specialist will assist in the daily review, triage, and documentation of remote pacemaker / ICD alerts and standard scheduled reports.
Essential Functions of The Role :
- Daily review, triage, and documentation of remote transmissions
- Patient notification of findings and follow-up as needed
- Evaluate stored and real time EKGs to identify arrhythmias, pacing or sensing problems, appropriate or inappropriate device intervention for arrhythmias
- Appropriately alert designated persons to possible concerns regarding patient status following the approved protocols and guidelines for CIEDs by each practice
- Provide an analysis of the data from cardiac electronic implanted devices (CIEDs)
- Communicate effectively with physicians and other providers regarding CIED function, diagnostic data, and overall patient status through accurate , professional, and standardized documentation
- Identify opportunities to enhance workflows in collaboration with the centralized device team and HVP senior leadership.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and follow all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Protected Health Information (PHI) standards / protocols.
- Maintain knowledge and competency that reflects current practice through continuing education.
- Appropriate communication of findings requiring further attention with responsible
MD or NP / PA.
Enrollment, education, scheduling, and maintenance of patients in various remote monitoring systems ( CareLink , Latitude , Merlin , Biotronik )Assist patients with transmissions over the phone, and troubleshoot issues with remote monitoring systems if neededAssis t with devices advisories / recalls affiliated with the FDAAid in scheduling and other administrative duties related to the cardiac device centerTroubleshoot cardiac device issues and take immediate steps toward resolutionEducate patients on all aspects of their cardiac device including remote monitoring and follow-up protocol.Serve as resource to providers and other employees regarding device patients and servicesEssential Skills and Core :

Bachelor’s or a ssociate ’s degree in related field—nursing, medicine, electronics or engineering bachelor’s degree in health, science, or engineeringPreferred- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing, with a BSN current licensure as a registered nurse.A Minimum of three years of recent cardiac device management with a Certified Cardiac Device Specialist certification (CCDS), Cardiac Device Remote Monitoring Specialist (CDRMS), Certified Electrophysiology Specialist (CEPS).Or
Completion of ATI training, Cardiac Device Program training ( PrepMD ) or three years of experience in a cardiac / EP device program with above certifications.Preferred certifications- International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) or willing to complete within first year of employment.Work Environment :
This is a clinical position. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
