Position Scope :
The Operator II is responsible for performing the daily production duties within their production area along with the other operators on the production team. The main activities include the manufacturing of products to ensure quality and favorable yield by following the standard operating procedures, while maintaining high standards for housekeeping, safety and environmental compliance. The operator will contribute to the site's continuous improvements utilizing the CIP database for BPS and continuous improvement ideas and may participate on 5S and L&SS projects. The operator is responsible for contributing to the site and departments key performance indicators (KPIs).
Schedule & Availability : This position follows a 4 10-hour day schedule (6 : 00 am – 4 : 30 pm), alternating monthly between Monday – Thursday and Tuesday – Friday. This position will include rotational on-call hours, including weekends and holidays, in addition to standard business hours. Must be able to work long hours (12-14) on a rotating shift schedule on a regular basis and in extreme climates (high / low temperatures and humidity).
Key Responsibilities :
Operator II areas include but not limited to : Mica Preparation, Finishing, Blending & Packaging, Repack, Non-Dust, Bismuth, and WM production.
Process chemicals by following standard operating procedures on equipment such as reactors, filters, kilns, centrifuge, pumps, etc.
Assure safe and environmentally compliant operation of the production processes.
Package and transfer chemicals safely.
Monitor and maintain equipment, including adjusting controls, cleaning, and startup / shutdown.
Conduct laboratory tests and record results like $text{pH}$ , temperature, particle analysis, etc.
Possess technical knowledge in the area of responsibilities.
Participate in continuous improvements initiatives within areas of responsibility.
Provide on-the-job training to other operator I and II as requested.
Ability to climb stairs, ladders and walk long distances during the course of the workday.
Able to move and handle heavy objects with appropriate equipment.
Qualifications :
A High School / GED degree.
At least three years of Chemical Operations experience in a Manufacturing environment.
Be proficient in the use of normal computer hardware / software.
A solid understanding and application of basic math skills.
Exposure to Lean Six Sigma and ISO certification.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
Ability to climb ladder / stairs.
Ability to bend, stoop and kneel.
Ability to work in various environmental conditions (hot, cold, dusty).
Ability to work in enclosed / tight spaces.
