Job descriptionCollaborate with specialists and incorporate consultant recommendations into the treatment Provides direct patient care to hospitalized Oncology patients within scope of practice to ensure Informs and instructs patients / significant others on patient’s health / illness state and plan of Documents clearly all aspects of patient care in the electronic medical record. Administers medications and parenteral therapy in accordance with established policies. At least 2 years of acute care hospital experience as an APN Prior experience as a bedside nurse preferably in oncology, ICU, or ER setting Prior Oncology experience strongly preferred but not necessary. Great organization skills Strong interpersonal communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Flexibility in work roles Team player Ability to multitask Great attention to detail Excellent bedside manners Ability to communicate effectively in the English Language
Your duties include but not limited to working collaboratively with a physician and under the clinical supervision of the Medical Directors. The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) provides medical evaluations and ongoing medication treatment to Oncology patients being co-managed with Oncology specialist physicians. This patient population includes solid tumor, malignant hematology, bone marrow transplant, CAR-T therapy and other clinical cancer research trial patients.
Among the key duties of this position are the following :
- Participates in data collection related to the patients’ status and needs.
- Perform initial hospital admissions and initiate care coordination for patients being admitted
either for primary treatment of oncologic issues or medical-surgical issues.
