ASSISTANT SUPERVISOR, GROUNDS MAINTENANCE

Occupational Summary

Supervise activities involved in the preservation, development, and care of all grounds, drives, walks, and parking areas of the Duke University campuses and designated off-campus properties.

Work Performed

• Supervise grounds maintenance, landscaping, cleaning, and repair of streets, walks, and parking areas, including snow removal and regular and special trash and debris pickup
• Ensure the preparation and readiness of athletic facilities and playing fields for sporting events and physical education classes
• Plan and schedule work in designated areas to ensure proper staffing, space, and materials are available for task performance
• Inspect and authorize repairs of tools and equipment
• Review and evaluate existing work methods; modify approaches to increase efficiency and reduce costs when applicable
• Assign work, review subordinate performance, and train new personnel
• Supervise and / or recommend personnel actions including hiring, performance appraisals, transfers, and scheduling time off
• Perform other related duties incidental to those described above

Anticipated Pay Range

$20.60 to $32.96 per hour
