Unit Overview : 5 South – Hematology / Oncology

Location : UMMC

Beds : 32

Patient Population : Hematology / Oncology, chemo patients

Charting System : EPIC (Proficiency Required)

Trauma Level : Level 1 Trauma Center

Requirements

Remote : Allow 10 days for processing.

Required by UMMC – deadline November 15.

BLS – required for all RNs.

Unit Details

Ratios adjusted down for higher-acuity patients.

Takes a light assignment ; may take full load if needed.

Clinical Skills & Patient Care

Level 1 trauma experience.

Heparin drips commonly titrated.

All units have tele capability.

CPAP / BiPAP (mainly at night, with RT support).

Scheduling & Logistics

Travelers fill staffing gaps but block scheduling considered if possible.

Higher-acuity patients assigned to core staff.
