Job Description

The Whitney’s Academic Year Internship program offers a semester-long paid internship for undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled in an accredited academic program. The internship is hybrid, with some onsite work. For Spring 2026, interns commit between 16–21 hours per week over 10–12 weeks for a total of 200 hours. Interns are assigned to a specific department at the Museum for the duration of the internship. The Whitney seeks a Resource Resources : Archives intern for the Spring 2026 semester.

Expected Projects & Assignments

• Assist Museum staff, interns, and outside researchers with research inquiries
• Assist with collection information and data fact-checking, as needed
• Assist with reviewing and revising the museum’s Content Standard Element Sets (CSES)
• Data entry, including assigning descriptive subject terms to permanent collection object records, and entering provenance data, into TMS
• Draft and enter published reference citations into TMS
• Draft and send Object Questionnaires for artworks in the collection
• Assist with creating an inventory of historic Museum records for transfer to Archives
• Organization of primary source documents and filing

Interns will be paid a stipend of $3000.
