OBJECTIVE
To strive to obtain the proper system design through adherence to construction specifications and other requirements as specified by the Rural Utilities Service, the Public Service Commission, and the National Electrical Safety Code.
Responsibilities
- Obtains and assists in securing right of way.
- Draws up and processes staking sheets.
- Lays out, surveys and stakes line jobs.
- Lays out, surveys and stakes large commercial and subdivision jobs.
- Develops and maintains a thorough knowledge of all application specifications of the Rural Utilities Service.
- Develops and maintains a thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code and the National Electrical Code as it pertains to the operations of Blue Grass Energy.
- Develops and maintains a thorough knowledge of PSC rules and regulations.
- Consults with Line Superintendents on all newly assigned jobs. In the absence of the Line Superintendent consults with appropriate crew chief.
- Summarizes construction units and retirement units as needed.
- Assists in maintaining system maps.
- Assigns account numbers to each new member as required.
- Assigns work order numbers to each new job as required.
- Works with contractors and Blue Grass Energy warehouse personnel reviewing new construction, staking sheets, material tickets, billing accuracy and job closeouts.
- Performs work order procedures.
- Assists the Engineering Supervisor on work orders and projects as requested.
- Assists with outages during emergencies as requested.
- Evaluates and analyzes system outages and blinks.
- Makes recommendation of corrective actions that may be taken to improve system reliability.
- Checks monthly work orders as assigned.
- Stays abreast of the latest developments in the electric utility industry.
- Follows BGEnergy Safety Manual as well as Blue Grass Energy policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.Electrical Engineering degree preferred.Professional Engineer (PE) certification or ability to obtain PE license after meeting the experience preferred.Work Experience : None required. Two (2) years of utility working experience preferred.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to complete reports and other paperwork and perform complicated mathematical calculations.Must have a thorough understanding of RUS & PSC regulations and National Electrical Safety Code.Strong computer skills required.Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.Ability to effectively communicate with the public (verbal and written) is required.Reasoning and analyzing skills are required.Physical Requirements
